Air Marshal Andrew Turner CB CBE
Andrew served for four decades in the Royal Air Force, advancing from combat helicopter pilot to Deputy Commander of the Air Force. His other senior appointments included Director General of Global Defence Operations, Chancellor of the UK Defence Technical University, the Head of UK Military Planning and the UK Senior Advisor in the White House and Pentagon. His leadership experience spans complex global operations, defence innovation and international collaboration.
In his last appointment, Andrew was responsible for the acquisition of everything for the Royal Air Force. This totalled some £65 billion of capital programmes, around £20 billion of sustainment. He formed a venture capital fund distributing £50 million per annum into technologies that might evolve into battle-winning capabilities. Investments went into AI, quantum, drone technology, space and synthetic fuels. Since leaving he is a director and investor in 10 emerging tech start-up companies in space, quantum and advanced materials.
He is also the Chief Executive of Saibre Capital, a national interest investment firm which is coordinating the investment of around £300 billion into infrastructure the Government needs private capital to acquire. Portfolio companies include data centres, chip fabrication, nuclear power, EV charging, production automation, satellite constellations, advanced recycling, drug discovery and novel shipping.
