Herminius Appoints General Sir Patrick Sanders as Non-Executive Chairman
London, 9 June 2025 – Herminius, the intelligence and advisory firm, is pleased to announce the appointment of General Sir Patrick Sanders as its Non-Executive Chairman, effective immediately.
Sir Patrick joins Herminius following a distinguished career spanning more than 35 years in the British Army, culminating in his most recent role as Chief of the General Staff, the professional head of the British Army. His leadership during a period of profound global transformation – marked by increasing geopolitical complexity, the return of state-on-state competition, and growing technological disruption – has made him one of the UK’s most respected strategic thinkers.
As Non-Executive Chairman, Sir Patrick will provide strategic guidance to the Herminius leadership team and contribute to the firm’s continued growth as a trusted advisor to corporate leaders, governments, and investors navigating uncertainty in today’s global environment.
Commenting on the appointment, Julius Cavendish, Managing Partner of Herminius, said:
“We are honoured to welcome Sir Patrick as Chairman. His deep strategic insight, operational experience, and principled leadership will be invaluable as we expand our support to clients confronting increasingly volatile and contested operating environments. His appointment marks an important milestone for Herminius as we enter our next phase of growth.”
Sir Patrick Sanders added:
“Herminius is a firm I admire for its integrity, discretion, and commitment to helping leaders make decisions that matter. I look forward to working with the outstanding team at Herminius to help clients meet the challenges of this new era.”

Before joining Herminius, Andrea Gabus held multiple roles across the Balkans, the Middle East, West Africa, and Southeast Asia, within financial services as well as the public sector.
“We are thrilled that Andrea is joining the Management Committee and becoming a Partner in Herminius,” Julius Cavendish, Managing Partner, said. “He has shown a strong commitment to helping financial institutions, MNCs and parts of the non-profit world to make better informed decisions on a wide range of issues, and will also play an important role in driving our growth plan.”
