If you would like to be part of a team that draws insights from a global network with exceptional range, depth and flexibility then please contact us.
Director opportunity at Herminius Switzerland
Herminius provides independent intelligence and advice for informed decision making and reassurance. We help some of the world’s leading decision makers from industry, banking and private equity to create value, reduce risk and make better decisions.
Drawing insights from a global network with exceptional range, depth and flexibility, we advise on geopolitical and public policy developments at one end of the spectrum through to transactions, talent assessment, strategy, and disputes at the other. Leveraging the judgement of an in-house team that has worked on acutely sensitive issues across sectors, we identify opportunities, protect profits, support negotiations – and enable our clients to solve the most important commercial, political, and security problems facing them.
About the role:
We are recruiting a Director to join our team in Switzerland. The successful candidate will likely be mid-career, have a strong B2B sales track record, good academic credentials, and an informed interest in global affairs, international politics and business. The candidate will be eager to engage within a client-facing business and highly motivated to understand and solve clients’ problems. Applicants must have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to establish themselves in a small, close-knit team. Experience of the business intelligence or strategic advisory sectors is useful, but not required.
The successful candidate is expected to start in second half of 2025 (start date flexible).
We are looking for:
Experienced advisers: Candidates should have a track record of delivering advice to demanding customers, a sophisticated understanding of their needs, and a strong address book across core market segments.
Can-do entrepreneurs: Our people have entrepreneurial mindsets and are constantly looking for new ways to develop the capability we have built. Everyone we hire has the potential to become a partner in the firm.
Effective networkers: Building long-term relationships with our clients and the members of our global network is an essential part of the role. It requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, a genuine interest in helping others succeed, high integrity, and the ability both to speak and listen well.
Committed team players: We are a single team of hard-working colleagues who are passionate about our work, support each other, and are resilient and robust. We share advice and knowledge, admit our faults, and are genuinely pleased when others do well.
Critical thinkers: We make sense of complex and sometimes contradictory information, test assumptions and hypotheses, and then form nuanced judgements about people, politics and businesses. Thoughtful analysis, close attention to detail and intellectual rigour are fundamental to our work.
Enthusiastic learners: Our people have a natural curiosity for the world around them and are demonstrably interested in and excited by global affairs, politics, personalities, and business. We love our work and are keen to learn about new industries and ideas.
Good writers: We deliver our insights in crisp, clear, accurate writing that answers our clients’ questions in a way that is easy for them to understand. Often this will mean summarising complex and sometimes ambiguous content in succinct, unambiguous terms on tight deadlines.
The successful candidate will gain experience across all aspects of the business and will be expected
to carry out the following tasks:
Business development:
• Identify new prospects and develop a comprehensive portfolio of clients;
• Identify and develop new market segments, business lines, and other areas of expansion;
• Support and enhance company marketing efforts across a variety of channels.
Network development:
• Contribute to the development of the Herminius network by building relationships with existing members, and identifying and recruiting new members.
Writing, research and communication:
• Apply critical thinking and commercial judgement to large volumes of raw information;
• Write precise, structured, and analytical prose in a manner pleasing to clients;
• Brief and debrief a wide variety of clients and subject matter experts.
What we offer:
We have built our company on a long-term basis, focusing on sustained relationship-building with a select book of blue-chip clients, rather than short-term profit maximisation. We are proud of what we do, believe in acting as a force for good in our community, and work with clients with similar values.
We offer a competitive salary and pension; discretionary performance-related bonus; a flexible working model; a generous holiday allocation; and a range of other benefits. We take staff development seriously and combine on-the-job learning with coaching and training programmes.
We value difference and encourage applicants from all social backgrounds, regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation, or age. We want everyone to feel that Herminius is a place where you can be yourself and where you belong. We support working families via a range of family and caring friendly policies and will accommodate flexible working where we can.
If you are interested in joining the team, please send a CV and Covering Letter to: recruitment@herminius.com quoting “Director – Switzerland”.
